  • 6 cloves of shallot
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 piece of ginger
  • 1 piece of turmeric
  • 1 piece of galangal
  • 2 candlenuts
  • 1 tsp of coriander powder

Additional ingredients

  • 200 ml of coconut milk
  • 1 stalk of lemongrass
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 lime leaves
  • ¼ tsp of stock powder
  • Water
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Lime juice

How to Make Homemade Gulai Udang

  1. Clean the shrimp thoroughly, devein, then marinate in lime juice and salt for 15 minutes.
  2. Grind the shallots, garlic, ginger, turmeric, galangal, candlenuts, and coriander powder using a food processor.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add the ground seasoning, lemongrass, bay leaves, and lime leaves. Stir briefly.
  4. Add shrimp, chopped yardlong beans, and tofu. Stir well.
  5. Add water and stir again until evenly mixed.
  6. Add coconut milk. Stir well.
  7. Add stock powder, salt, and sugar. Adjust the taste.
  8. Once it suits your preference, remove gulai udang.
  9. Gulai udang is ready to serve.
